Head of Product
Global product org. Platform used in over 100 countries.
One roadmap that needs someone to own it.
Our client builds the software that clean energy businesses run on. Design, sales, project management, end to end. Headquartered in Sydney, team spread across more than ten countries, users across the globe. Mission driven. Still growing fast, and the values/culture is what MAP resonates with.
The roadmap has grown faster than the business. Too many good ideas, not enough discipline around which ones ship and when. Right now the CTO is holding product together on top of his own job. That's the gap!
The role
You'll lead a global product team. Six senior product managers across Sydney, the UK, the US and India. Around 20 people in the wider product org.
This is not a strategy on a whiteboard role. The strategy exists. What's missing is someone who can turn it into a roadmap the business believes in, kill the things that shouldn't be on it, and get the rest delivered on time.
You'll sit on the executive leadership team. You'll work directly with the CTO, the Head of Software and the CEO. You'll be the person who says no when no is the right answer and can explain why.
What you'll do - Own the global product roadmap and the discipline around it
- Cut it down to what matters. Prioritise hard. Communicate the trade offs
- Run delivery. Timelines, release planning, backlog, governance
- Lead and grow six senior PMs across four time zones
- Mature the agile operating model across product, design and engineering
- Put customer data and usage insight at the centre of every call
- Represent product at ELT level
What you'll need - 10 plus years in product, a good chunk of it leading product people
- Real experience owning a complex roadmap and making calls people didn't like
- Globally distributed team leadership
- Strong partnership with engineering and design. Not a handover relationship. A partnership
- Evidence you've fixed a broken delivery process and can show what changed
- Comfortable in a growth stage business where not everything is defined yet
- SaaS background ideal. Renewables or climate tech a bonus, not a must
Straight talk on what's on offer
This is a mission business in growth stage. There's no bonus. What there is:
- Employee share plan, options based on current valuation, earned by showing you're in
- An extra day off every month. Eleven a year. Plus gifted leave over Christmas
- Three days in the Sydney office. Breakfast, lunch, good coffee, new kit
- Health and wellbeing allowance
- A global team that celebrates wins loudly and promotes from within
One thing to know up front. There's a weekly global operations meeting on Wednesday nights, Sydney time, around 90 minutes. That's the price of a genuinely global team. Better you hear it now.
The process
Three conversations. CTO first. Then the wider tech leadership. Then the CEO. No tech test. They move quick when they find the right person.
