Corporate Security Engineer

About the Organisation Join a fast-growing technology organisation building advanced systems focused on large-scale sensing, intelligent signal processing, automation, and distributed computing to solve complex real-world security and safety challenges.

The organisation works with a broad range of high-trust customers including government-related bodies, public infrastructure operators, transport environments, and large enterprise clients with critical operational requirements.

The company is currently in a strong expansion phase, with increasing international presence across multiple regions including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Engineering, operations, and production capabilities are distributed globally, with Sydney serving as a primary engineering and development hub.

About the Role We are seeking a Corporate Security Engineer to join an internal security function based in Sydney.

This is a mid-level engineering position with clear progression into more senior technical and security architecture pathways.

The internal security team is responsible for protecting corporate systems, endpoints, and internal infrastructure against advanced and evolving threat activity. The emphasis is on scalable engineering solutions, automation-first security controls, and strong collaboration with IT and detection functions.
The role operates in close partnership with internal IT and detection teams:
  • IT provides core identity, device, and infrastructure foundations
  • Corporate Security builds and automates protective controls and telemetry
  • Detection teams leverage this data to build monitoring, alerting, and response workflows
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building, improving, and scaling security capabilities rather than purely advisory work.

A strong interest in automation and emerging AI-assisted tooling is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, automate, and deploy security controls across internal systems and endpoints
  • Support and enhance endpoint protection and configuration management at scale
  • Contribute to vulnerability tracking, assessment, and remediation efforts
  • Monitor emerging security issues and recommend mitigation approaches
  • Assist in incident response involving internal systems and infrastructure
  • Develop metrics, identify behavioural patterns, and translate findings into actions
  • Contribute to execution of internal security strategy under senior guidance
  • Support reporting, dashboards, and operational security insights
  • Collaborate with IT and detection teams on cross-functional engineering initiatives
Required Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2–4+ years in IT, systems, or security-focused engineering roles
  • Strong hands-on engineering capability (must be actively technical)
  • Experience working with enterprise security tooling in production environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Technical skills:
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to design scalable solutions
  • Experience with endpoint/device management platforms
  • Understanding of secure access patterns for remote and internal systems
  • Experience hardening systems and reducing attack surface
  • Automation experience using Python, Go, or similar languages
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments via command line
  • Familiarity with threat modelling concepts (threats, controls, mitigations)
Highly Desirable
  • Experience across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments
  • Exposure to modern detection/monitoring platforms
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and hybrid cloud environments
  • Interest or experimentation with AI/LLM tools for automation or security workflows
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to identify non-obvious risks
Growth Path This role is designed for an engineer who can operate with increasing independence and take ownership of meaningful security initiatives.
You will work closely with senior security leadership and gradually expand your scope across internal security engineering programs. Over time, the role evolves toward greater technical ownership, design responsibility, and strategic input into security architecture and tooling decisions.
